Raaka Chocolate

The only unroasted, bean-to-bar chocolate company in the United States. Made right down the street from me, in Brooklyn. I serve, deliciously, on the board of directors.

Raaka imports ethically-sourced cacao by the ton, and melanges it into delicious chocolate in small, stone-ground batches. (Conventional chocolate is roasted and processed in giant metal machines, which completely changes the flavor profile of the beans–it’s like the difference between Manischewitz and a fine wine.)

In a nutshell: TED talks by your friends. Every month in New York City, and soon the world. We’ve had talks on the invention of children’s clothing, elephants, creativity, sneaking into exclusive events, wine-making. We’ve had a panel on Occupy Wall Street, and a magician.

Amanda Simson, Tara Cronin and I manage the talks, alternating between Brooklyn and Manhattan (for our fancy friends). Drop a line if you’re interested in giving a talk!

I co-wrote, co-produced and co-engineered this record. Called “the Sgt. Pepper’s of Twee” by one reviewer, it’s orchestral indie pop that mashes up critical theory, the Beach Boys, and the muppets.
